Former British tennis number one and television commentator Annabel Croft will be star guest at the official opening of Four Oaks care home, in Wood Lane, Partington on Tuesday next week. (April 18 at 11.30am) Ahead of her visit to Kingsley Healthcare’s flagship home, she said: “I am really looking forward to seeing the home and meeting staff and residents. “A member of my family works in a care home and I am aware just how hard staff work and how they are very much the unsung heroes of the health sector.” About 100 invited guests, including local healthcare and social work professionals, will be welcomed to a buffet lunch by Kingsley CEO Daya Thayan. Ian Smallwood, Kingsley’s regional director, said: “We are proud to have opened this first-class facility for the people of Cheshire and Manchester and to have become an important employer in the local area.”

A commemorative plaque will be unveiled by Patricia Seddon, a director of family-owned construction firm Seddon, and Ian Oriel and Martin Smyth, directors of Coutts Bank which funded the project. Mrs Seddon said: “It’s an honour to attend the opening of Four Oaks, a fantastic care home for elderly residents in Greater Manchester and beyond. Congratulations to everyone involved in bringing this important space to the local area. “I’m incredibly proud of the work Seddon has done in building a home that offers the very best care in a modern and comfortable environment.

It’s testament to Seddon’s specialism in the healthcare sector and a fitting way to carry on my late husband Christopher Seddon’s legacy.” Father Ned Wall, priest at Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church in Partington, will bless the 62 bedroom nursing home which began taking its first residents last year.
