Kingsley welcomes first residents to new luxury home
Kingsley Healthcare’s £6m luxury care home in Partington, Greater Manchester, has welcomed its first residents. The company’s new flagship 62- bedroom home, named Four Oaks, will employ nearly 100 staff equivalent to more than 60 fulltime roles when it is full. Ian Smallwood, appointed earlier this year as Kingsley’s operations director in the NorthWest, described the new home as “one of the best facilities I have seen”.
He said: “With its grand foyer area and its cinema and library, one senior local health professional I showed round compared the environment to a Marriott hotel. She was extremely excited by it. “All the bedrooms have en-suite showers and toilets and a level of fitting, including top quality furniture and flat screen televisions, which we know our discerning residents expect.” Facilities also include a sensory garden, a stylish tea room and a hairdressing and beauty treatment room. Mr. Smallwood, who has worked in healthcare all his life, said: “I am really passionate about providing a good quality caring and supportive employ local people. Its work with the council, National Careers Service and Your Housing Group has seen it so far help 30 people into employment. This figure will eventually more than double, to meet the staffing needs of the new care home.
Over 80 per cent of the new staff live in Partington, with the remaining from the local area, something which was important to Kingsley. Debbie Cank, operations manager for Four Oaks, said: “Trafford Council has assisted us in our recruitment of local people which has been invaluable. “They include an apprentice administrator and a wide range of staff from domestics and housekeepers to support workers and maintenance people. The new recruits included young people who have never had a job before. “We have many more good applications and will be taking on extra staff via this route as we gradually take more residents into the home.” “It’s wonderful to see that local people were clearly tremendously proud that a company like Kingsley had become involved in their community.” Trafford Council's executive member for economic growth, environment and infrastructure, John Reilly, said: "It is fantastic to see yet another key company signing up to the Trafford Pledge.
“The Pledge is a true partnership, with agencies, businesses and the local community working together to create, develop and sustain new employment opportunities and also support people to make sure they have the necessary skills to secure employment.” The opening of Four Oaks, in August, adds to Kingsley’s growing portfolio of care homes in the North West. At the end of last year, the company acquired two homes in prime Cheshire locations, Sharston House in Knutsford and Redwalls in Sandiway.
