I qualified as a nurse 30 years ago. During the last 30 years I have worked in many different areas of healthcare but have spent the last 10 years working in a care home. I am passionate about making a difference to people's lives - residents, relatives and the team here at Thorp. I joined the team here at Thorp in February 2024, The home has a fantastic family feel, which I hear everyday walking around the home with laughter and fun at the heart of the home. I am looking forward to moving the home from good to outstanding. At home I love literature and classical music to create a relaxing environment. However my great passion is cooking and love to learn to create new dishes for my family and friends to enjoy.

Alexia Deakin

Deputy Manager

Before joining Thorp House Nursing Home I was a specialist Cardio/Thoracic nurse where I was in charge of a Surgical Ward and High Dependency Unit. In January 2018 I joined Kingsley Healthcare as a staff nurse at Thorp House Nursing Home. This position was very different from my previous job but was very fulfilling as I had the time to deliver person-centred care to the residents who have become like a second family to me. I became the Deputy Manager at Thorp House in August 2019 where I support the home manager in the daily running of the home making sure that the team is delivering high-quality care with compassion and empathy. In my spare time I enjoy going on long walks with my Rhodesian Ridgeback Neo and spending time with family and friends

Hanna Nguyen

Hospitality Manager

My passion for hospitality started while I was studying in Paris, around 25 years ago, I started to work at the legendary Michelin star-graded restaurant named "Au Pied de Cochon". The atmosphere, the teamwork, and the attention to detail designated the path of my life and I continued working in high-level hotels and restaurants. At Thorp House my key focus is managing the food service operations, working closely with the chef around menu planning and preparation to deliver quality meals to our residents. I absolutely love working at Thorp. Every day is different and brings some new challenges. To see the devotion of the team in bringing the best care to the residents in their day-to-day lives in our nursing home is heart-warming. In my spare time I enjoy doing crocheting and puzzle solving.

Charlotte Sandcraft

Administrator

I joined Thorp in 2017 as part of the administration team, as a friendly face to welcome residents, family and friends. Whether that be in person or on the phone. I have over 8 years experience having worked in insurance previously. I enjoy working at Thorp as it holds family values and is always a warm and welcoming environment. On my days off I enjoy playing hockey or going for walks and taking on hiking challenges.

Mia Stivens

Activities & Lifestyle Co-ordinator

Before joining Thorp House, my career over the last 20 years has been managing supported living services for adults with learning disabilities across Lincolnshire and Norfolk. I am originally from Lincolnshire and relocated to Norfolk in 2011. Thorp House has such a wonderful sense of family and belonging. Every day is different! I enjoy creating fun group activities as well as more tailored activities for individuals. At home, I have a keen interest in growing cactus- I have around 50 different species. I am also a huge football and horse racing fan.

Ruwan Sirimanna

Head Chef

Previously before joining Thorp I was the Chef at a TGI Friday As the chef of Thorp House Nursing home, I am responsible for the planning and provision of daily nutritious meals for all our residents. I take pride in crafting delicious meals that evoke nostalgic flavours and memories for our residents. I believe that tastes have the power to transport us back to cherished moments from the past. It brings me immense joy to utilize my culinary skills to create meals that not only nourish but also delight the senses. What I love most about my job is the opportunity to receive feedback directly from the residents, knowing that my cooking brings them joy and comfort. In my spare time I enjoy listening to Jazz music and going out with my friends and family

I am from the beautiful country of Sri Lanka and have a very diverse background within the hospitality industry. I am committed to Kingsley Healthcare's vision of offering five-star hotel standards within the care sector. I believe in personalised service to ensure residents feel welcomed and valued. Outside of work, I enjoy exploring the UK and experiencing the different seasons. I also love cooking.

Nigel Reeve

Operations Manager

I have worked in the care sector for 27 years, beginning my journey as a health care assistant. I have worked in a variety of settings, in both the private and public sector. During my career, I have been a Registered Manager for over 15 years and worked in Senior Management roles. Delivering exemplary care and customer service is truly my passion and nothing drives me more than ensuring that residents receive the highest quality of care. Kingsley has strong family values aligned to my own, that mean we treat our residents and colleagues like members of our own family. Growing up in Norfolk I am very familiar with the local area and outside of work I enjoying exploring the country side with my dog.

Wendy Mott

Regional Service Quality Manager

I have over 35 years of experience in the health and care sector, with the past two years dedicated to a quality role within elderly care. I am committed to ensuring that we provide the highest quality support to those under our care. Kingsley fosters a genuine family atmosphere, where everyone is friendly and supportive, all working towards a common goal. In my leisure time I enjoy gardening and walking and continue to discover hidden gems in the Norfolk and Suffolk counties.

Marcia Hughes

Regional Community Engagement (East)

I have been with the company for 10 years now with my roles changing over the years but my passion has always been in Community Engagement. This is an area that I have always been extremely dedicated to building and fostering Community relations within the care home. I really enjoy spending time in my garden and like nothing better than relaxing with my family and large breed Newfoundland Dog Shadow and a very fluffy cat called Ozzie. I am interested in Alternative Therapies such as Crystal Healing, enjoy Tai chi and love reading especially anything by Paulo Coelho. I feel very proud to be part of a company which i believe in, setting the barre for good quality person centered care.
