Betty celebrates 102nd birthday at Highcliffe Nursing Home with her favourite chocolate cake

Residents and staff at Highcliffe Nursing Home have celebrated the 102nd birthday of Betty Bown.

Miss Bown was born in the USA but her family returned to England when she was nine. Her elder sister remained in America.

She lived with her parents in Ringwood and looked after them until they died. Her sister has also passed away.

Miss Bown, who never married, loves dogs and owned a dog called Jess; she was good at art when she was at school.

She enjoys listening to music and will often sing along with it. Miss Bown has lived in Highcliffe Nursing home since 2010.
