The residents, including 102-year-old Rosamond Worrall, took part in a workout week, raising £300 for the red nose charity.

Rosamund Worrall, the oldest resident at the home in Weaverham Road, Sandiway, joined in the fun, walking laps of the garden and taking on staff at balloon tennis.

Wellbeing coordinator Jodie Solaiman said: "We started the week with a workout to music session in the lounge and organised activities every day, building up to Red Nose Day on the Friday.

"Most of the sponsorship money has come from residents’ families.

"They left little notes of encouragement and that motivated the residents to keep it going throughout the week."

She said her fellow wellbeing coordinator, Kelly Randles, had come up with the idea of walking laps of the garden, inspired by the exploits of Captain Tom in raising funds for the NHS.

"Everybody enjoyed it and I think it has been good for both the residents’ physical and mental health," said Jodie.

"The lockdown months have been tough for everyone and it has been great getting active and out in the fresh air at times."
