Community invited to support Bras for Africa appeal at Brackley Care Home
Staff at Brackley Care Home, in Wellington Road, Brackley, will be showing their support for an Africa charity when they “Wear a Bra for the Day” on October 10.
They will be wearing bras on the outside of their clothes before donating them to the Your Smalls Appeal, a charity which collects bras for poor people in Africa.
They are also appealing to local people to donate a bra by placing it in a collection box in reception at the Kingsley Healthcare home.
Julie Wilson, the home’s customer relations manager, said: “I am South African and we have other staff who have come from African countries, including Nigeria, Cameroon and Ghana as well as South Africa.
“The cause is close to all of our hearts because we have seen the incredible poverty that exists throughout Africa. Bras are an absolute luxury for many people.”
As October was Breast Cancer Awareness Month, staff would also be showcasing this event on October 10.
“We will be inviting local people to come in the home for tea and pink cupcakes in return for a donation to the Breast Cancer Association.”
