Hair razing fundraiser for Red Nose Day

A resident at Brooke House care home, near Norwich, came up with a hair razing stunt to raise more than £50 for Red Nose Day charities.

Rodney Savory, 71, who has lived in the village of Brooke since he was a young child, decided it was a good cause worth losing his prized pony tail for.

Mr Savory, who has cerebral palsy but worked throughout his life at companies in Loddon, Bungay and Norwich, said: “I had not had a haircut since November 2019 and thought I might as well shave it all off for charity.”

Liz Borrett, activities coordinator at the Kingsley Healthcare-run home in Brooke Gardens, Brooke, said: “Support worker Frances Turner shaved his head taking it from below shoulder length to a number two all over.

“Staff have all contributed and we are easily going to raise more than £50.”

Later today, kitchen staff will be baking red nose cakes to raise further money.
