Lilac Lodge raffle raises £333 for kids' charity

DSC 0054

A raffle at Lilac Lodge care home, in Oulton Broad, raised £335 in support of an emergency appeal to provide a specialist wheelchair for a disabled child.

The Essex-based charity, Sunny Days Children’s Fund, contacted Lilac Lodge manager Zena Stotter to see if the home could help through a fund-raiser.

Head of housekeeping Sue Wesley contacted Warner Hotels’ Corton Coastal Village which generously donated two fabulous prizes, a two-night stay and a three-course meal and cabaret.

She said: “Staff and residents’ families were generous in donating a raft of other prizes.”

Support worker Sara Mistakou could not believe her luck when activities coordinator Corin Edwards held the draw – and her name was picked out twice at the start to win the top two prizes!

At the end of the draw, former entertainer Corin, who is incredibly popular with residents and staff, was presented with the home’s Employee of the Month award.
