Manager appointed for £12m Brackley Care Home
The new manager of a £12m care home scheduled to open in Brackley, Northamptonshire, in late summer, is already forging links with the local community. Sheena Croston, 52, a registered general nurse with more than 30 years’ experience, said: “In my first weeks in my new role, I have started the way I intend to carry on – building close relationships with schools, colleges and all kinds of groups.
“I am determined to place Brackley Care Home at the heart of everything going on locally. It’s so important for residents to maintain strong ties with their local community. “Our residents will become a familiar sight on trips out to shops, pubs and places of interest and we will be inviting lots of people into the home, including school pupils and college students for inter-generational activities.” Mrs Croston brings to her new role the confidence and experience acquired from being the commissioning manager of two other luxury care homes, near Bedford and in High Wycombe.
The topping out ceremony for the 66-bedroom home in Wellington Road, Brackley, was celebrated in February with donations to two local groups, Brackley Athletic FC girls’ under-nines team and the 5th Brackley Scout Group. The flagship home for Kingsley Healthcare, ranked as a national top 20 large care home group by carehome.co.uk, is being built by Midlands-based Deeley Construction. Luxury features will include a cinema room, library, café, hairdressing salon, quiet lounges and a conservatory. Outside, there will be extensive gardens with beautiful landscape architecture, including a water feature.
Mrs Croston said: “As part of our community engagement, I would love to hear from local groups and good causes in need of sponsorship or support in some other way. Please contact me on 07710 095736.”
