Marathon achievements for Kingsley staff
Congratulations to Kingsley Healthcare Chief Financial Officer Ian Jarvis who raised more than £2,700 for the Alzheimer’s Society by successfully completing the Manchester Marathon.
Spurred on to raise money for the charity by the loss of his grandfather and a dear colleague to the dreadful disease, Ian was the third highest fundraiser for Alzheimer’s Society out of more than 1,000 runners supporting it at the event.
Ian, a keen runner who has clocked up 260 Saturday morning Parkruns in 70 different locations around the UK, completed his second marathon in 5hr 20min.
Thanking his supporters, who included Kingsley staff and business associates as well as friends and family, he said: “It was very tough after the 20 mile mark but raising such a large sum made it all worthwhile. We are all well aware of the effects the disease has on our residents within our care homes.”
Ian’s running has inspired other Kingsley runners to marathon achievements with Donna Elliott, administrator at Queen Charlotte Care Home in Weymouth, Dorset, completing the London Marathon in 4hr 38min, raising around £300 for the domestic abuse charity Refuge in the process.
Matt Herring, Kingsley’s Head of Corporate Finance, successfully completed his first marathon, in Brighton, in a time of 5hr 4min.
