Redwalls Nursing Home celebrates success of Doughnut Day fundraiser

Redwalls Nursing Home raised nearly £400 for The Children’s Trust through their Doughnut Day fundraiser.

Morrisons kindly supplied doughnuts which staff today sold at a stall outside the home in Weaverham Road, Sandiway.

Activities coordinator Jodie Solaiman, who organised the event to celebrate National Doughnut Week with her brother Rafi, 21, a world champion Para athlete, said: “It was an amazing day and great meeting people from the local community. We sold almost 200 doughnuts in a matter of hours thanks to the generosity of residents’ families and local people.”

Jodie, 26, chose the charity because of the amazing support it gave her brother Rafi after he had a brain haemorrhage at the age of 12.

She said: “I want to say a massive thank you to Rafi and nurse Amber who came in on her day off to help us out – also Morrisons for supplying us with the doughnuts.”

Rafi, who travelled from his home in Sheffield to support the event, was treated at The Children’s Trust’s rehabilitation centre in Tadworth, Surrey.
