Staff at Redwalls Nursing Home are really in the pink
Think Pink was the command of care home manager TJ Adamson.
And the stunning response of his staff to Wear It Pink Day has won them a national competition prize.
TJ was determined to make the biggest impression – and he did - arriving at Redwalls Nursing Home, in Sandiway in drag with a resplendent pink wig.
Even his pet pug Frankie – adopted as the care home’s pet therapy dog - joined in the fun of the Breast Cancer Now charity fundraiser, wearing a pink tutu.
Wellbeing coordinator Jodie Solaiman, herself sporting a pink wig, rallied staff to support the cause and residents were eager to join in too.
“We really smashed it,” said TJ, proud of his team’s efforts.
Their creative endeavours won them first prize in Kingsley Healthcare Group’s Wear It Pink competition, open to all its homes nationally.
Sumi Thayan, co-founder and operations director of the national care homes group, said: “It’s amazing to see the effort everyone went to. It helps to make the home a really fun place for our residents.”
She presented staff with chocolate and gave the home £100 to add to the £70 it raised on the day for Breast Cancer Now.
