Staff dressed up in their national costume for an open evening at Redwalls Nursing Home in Sandiway, Cheshire. Head chef Sharon Johnson, who cooked for former president Barack Obama during her time running a restaurant in Washington DC, prepared a Taste of the World buffet for the event on Wednesday. She was assisted by Filipina deputy manager Laisah Elchico, Filipina nurses Tess Ringor and Thelma Escasinas, Guyanan nurse Princess Bob Ralph and Thai kitchen assistant Napa Morris in preparing a cosmopolitan feast.
Home manager Julie Sheridan said: “Everyone who attended, including the families of residents, really enjoyed it. It’s something we will certainly be looking to repeat in the future.” As well as sampling the food, visitors were able to tour the home and chat to activities team Hayley Bullock and Emma Edwards about how they inject fun into residents’ daily lives. Senior staff, including regional operations director Ian Smallwood, were on hand to answer any questions concerning care needs for a loved one.
