Annette Carmody

Deputy Manager

I continued my education at Queen Elizabeth School of Nursing in Birmingham, qualifying as a registered nurse. I spent time at the Birmingham Children’s hospital in the A&E and outpatients department, eventually moving into the care sector in various environments such as day centres and domiciliary care. I have had the opportunity to work around Europe in Greece, France and Cyprus. After returning to Norfolk, I had the opportunity to work at Brooke House with Kingsley Healthcare. I enjoy spending time with the residents, giving the quality of care they deserve and working with a close knit team of support workers.

Rachel Williamson

Administrator

I started working for Kingsley Healthcare very recently, in April 2020. Before then, I had my own souvenir and promotional company which I ran with my partner for 27 years, selling to coastal shops, zoos and tourist information centres.  This was a family business which closed due to lockdown.  Even though it was very sad.  I feel positive that it has also opened new doors for me and I hope to progress in a new career in care. I enjoy my job as home administrator. Every day is different and I am really enjoying learning new things about care.  I love the people who live and work here and they have all helped me settle in well.  I am looking forward to the future.

Head Cook

I worked in the Co-op factory, Bally Shoe and the chicken factory in Lowestoft until I had my daughter. To fit in with school hours I started work at Kensington House, Lowestoft in 1989 within the domestic team, I then added kitchen assistant to my line of duties.  Kingsley Healthcare took over the house in 2003 and it became Kirkley Manor.  I worked myself up to head cook. In 2008 I transferred to Brooke where I have been since.

Activities Co-ordinator

I have worked for Kingsley for 2 years now and enjoy my role as Support Worker/Activities Co Ordinator very much. This is my first job in care as previous occupations include retail, buyer, accounts, sales negotiator, child minder and teaching assistant. My role at Brooke House as Activities Co-Ordinator is something I feel very privileged to do. To be able to spend quality time with our residents, to have meaningful conversations to share in their joy as they participate in baking, arts or crafts, pamper sessions, listening to music and numerous other activities it’s a real honour.

Senior Support Worker

I began my career at John Lewis for 18 years before going into catering. I have also helped older people in their homes with cleaning, shopping and with general companionship.

I nursed my late husband for 5 years who had cancer and decided that I would be good as a support worker, having also nursed my family members as well.

I waited until my two children had left school, then changed career to support worker.

I joined Brooke House in December 2017 as a support worker.  I then got promoted to Senior Support Worker. I enjoy caring and helping people and enjoy my job here very much.

Senior Support Worker

I started off working for Kingsley in 2013 as a domestic then worked up to head house keeper . Through doing that I became more involved with the residents and was asked if I would consider being a support worker. I then progressed from support worker to a senior. I’m very proud of what I do and I love my job . It’s wonderful to go home knowing I have made a difference. Working at Brooke House is like having an extended family.
