Life is blooming at Woodbridge Lodge and not just in terms of the fabulous garden in its full summer glory. New manager Samantha Saunders and her team would love to welcome you to one of the home’s coffee mornings, held every Thursday from 10am to 11.30am, to show you all the improvements which are being put in place. Woodbridge Lodge is organising a very special afternoon from 2.30pm to 4.30pm on Saturday, September 3, and it would be great to see as many local families as possible go along for the free end-of-summer barbecue with live music.
Suffolk-based Kingsley Healthcare took over Woodbridge Lodge a year ago and the company is determined to make the home a jewel in its crown and one of which the whole community can be proud. Woodbridge operations manager Gina Dennison said: “Our care home was inspected by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) back in May, before Samantha joined us, and at that time there were some issues and the home failed to meet some regulations. “We agreed actions with CQC to make and maintain improvements and we are now meeting standards and working hard to embed improvements into every day practice.
“As a company, we strive for the highest standards of person- centred care as shown by our sister home Allonsfield House, in Campsea Ashe, which has both a good rating and a tremendous reputation locally.” New manager Samantha, who has a successful 20-year track record working in care, said: “I fell in love with Woodbridge Lodge as soon as I saw it. “It has lovely grounds and it is an elegant house that is very light and airy – there are no dark places which you find in a lot of care homes.” She said there was also an amazing family feel to Woodbridge Lodge with residents’ families being made to feel just as much at home as their loved ones. Gina said: “We know how important it is for our residents to still feel part of heir local community and that is why we are so keen to invite the public in for events.
“Our summer fete at the end of July, opened by the Woodbridge mayor, was a tremendous success and really brought together the generations. “The 1st Woodbridge Scouts came along and ran some of our stalls and one of them, Michael Adams, is the 10-year-old great-grandson of our resident Elsie Austin.” Kingsley Healthcare understands it is a big step to move into a care home, but the company makes it easier by supporting its residents to carry on living just the way they want to. Staff make sure they listen to every resident and understand their wishes whether it is the activities they love or the food they are fond of.
