Staff and residents at Oaklands Care Home ensured Maud Cattermole had a memorable 103rd birthday!

The great, great grandmother had lived in Suffolk all her life until she crossed over the county border into Norfolk earlier this summer and moved into the Kingsley Healthcare home in Scole, near Diss.

On her special day, she enjoyed blowing out candles on her cake and joining fellow residents for a dance to live music from Johnny Country Rock and Roll.

Mrs. Cattermole met her late husband David in Stowmarket and they were wed in 1942 during the Second World War.

She had worked in a factory after finishing school, before going into service.

However, following her marriage, and between bringing up her children Harry, Michael and Joy, she worked in pubs as a chef.

Hostelries she worked at included The White Horse, in Stoke Ash and The Bucks Head, in Thwaite.

Mrs. Cattermole, who is proud to have four grandchildren, six great grandchildren and three great, great grandchildren, lived in Thornham Magna before moving to Oaklands.
