New manager at Oaklands Care Home aims for outstanding rating
The new manager of Oaklands Care Home in Scole, near Diss, will already be a familiar face to some people in the area.
For Alison Fallowfield enjoyed a successful spell running The Depperhaugh Nursing Home in nearby Hoxne, near Eye, during her previous time working for Kingsley Healthcare.
Re-joining the company following a spell caring for her mother in her native Scottish Highlands, Miss Fallowfield, a nurse with over 40 years of experience, said: “I’m so glad to be part of the Kingsley family again and living on the Norfolk/Suffolk border which is one of my favourite parts of the country.”
She said she was proud of her track record at Kingsley, having successfully managed its homes in Weymouth, Dorset, Wroxham, Norfolk and Campsea Ashe, Suffolk as well as The Depperhaugh.
During that previous decade with the company, she built an impression reputation for maintaining good CQC ratings, successfully mentoring staff and forging excellent relationships with residents, families, staff and visiting professionals.
She said: “It’s still on my bucket list to achieve an outstanding CQC rating and I am confident I can realise that at Oaklands which has so much potential.
“I already have the makings of a great team here; really lovely staff who have already made me feel at home.”
Last week, she hosted a cheese and wine evening as a first step to getting to know residents’ families and, in the new year, she will be welcoming the wider community to an open day from 2pm to 4pm on 25th January, Burns Night.
“We will be celebrating with some Scottish food and drinks and I will be available to show people around the home and answer any questions about care. Of course, people do not have to wait until January for a visit. We would welcome them anytime,” she said
Miss Fallowfield said it was vitally important for care homes she ran to be part of the local community and she was keen to work with Oaklands’ hospitality manager Tracey Pashley to forge new links with local schools and organisations.
She said residents at Oaklands loved visits by animals and they were excited about the prospect of being introduced to her poodle cross Bramble when she had time to fetch her from Scotland.
